Preparing for Your First Cold Wallet Verification
First-time clients often ask what they should bring and what they should expect. This guide covers the essentials based on hundreds of appointments at our Daegu office.
Three Days Before
Locate your seed phrase backup and your hardware wallet. Confirm both are accessible without disturbing other household members who may not know about your holdings. If your backup is in a bank safe deposit box, retrieve it before the appointment — we cannot verify what is not present.
What to Bring
- Hardware wallet (charged if battery-powered)
- Seed phrase backup in its current storage form
- Any prior verification reports from us or another provider
- Government-issued identification
- Reading glasses if you use them for small print
What to Leave at Home
- Laptops, phones, and tablets (you may keep your phone silenced in your bag, but we ask you not to use it during the seed phrase review)
- USB cables other than the one that came with your device
- Cryptocurrency exchange login credentials
During the Session
Your verifier will never ask you to speak your seed phrase aloud. You will read each word silently, point to it on the paper, and the verifier will cross-reference against a printed wordlist. If a word is ambiguous, we discuss it without guessing.
The session is not a test. Clients who discover problems during verification — faded words, forgotten passphrases, unfamiliar firmware versions — are doing exactly what the appointment is designed for. Finding an issue during a scheduled review is far preferable to finding it during an emergency recovery.
After the Session
You will receive a printed report before you leave. A follow-up email arrives within 48 hours summarising action items. File the report with your other custody records and schedule your next appointment approximately twelve months out.
