Multi-Sig Custody: What We Verify and What We Cannot
Multi-signature wallets distribute signing authority across two or more keys held by different people. They are common among families, business partners, and investment groups in South Korea. Verifying a multi-sig setup is materially different from reviewing a single-sig wallet.
What Changes
Each co-signer must attend (or participate via a pre-arranged remote call for the documentation portion only). Each person’s seed phrase backup is audited individually. We confirm that the quorum configuration matches what the group believes it to be — a 2-of-3 setup is verified differently from a 3-of-5.
Common Multi-Sig Problems
- Mismatched quorum assumptions. One signer believes the wallet requires two signatures; another believes it requires three.
- Inconsistent backup media. Signer A uses a metal plate; Signer B uses laminated paper; Signer C has not updated their backup since a wallet migration two years ago.
- Geographic dispersion. Co-signers living in different cities who have not tested a signing ceremony together since setup.
Session Length
Allow a minimum of two hours for a 2-of-3 review with all signers present. A 3-of-5 arrangement typically requires a half-day block. Contact us for a written estimate before booking.
What We Document
The verification report lists each signer’s backup status, the confirmed quorum configuration, and any discrepancies found. We do not perform a live signing transaction during the appointment — that would require network connectivity and is outside our scope.
